Design makes everything better. Even DevRel.
Listen to John Lynch of Context Studio discuss the relevance of design thinking for software development and sales.
In this week’s episode of Fireside with Voxgig I talk to John Lynch of Context Studios. John brings considerable experience as a software developer, designer and entrepreneur to the table. In this straight shooting conversation, John helps me to see that poor API and SDK documentation, among other frustrations in coding, are a result of lack of design thinking.
But not just any design - service design. John explains that these days, EVERYTHING has a service element. We talk about this from a software perspective, where now a software application could have upwards of ten other software providers as part of the delivery. The service approach of each could be a risk to the end result!
So for DevRel, if you’re trying to get a product or service adopted, sit back and spend some time looking through a design lens. Have you considered HOW people are going to interact with your service? This conversation will get you started. Our image shows a snapshot of a service design from the Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design, well worth an explore to understand the potential of designing your user experience.
