DevRel unlocked Checkly's growth.
Listen to Tim Nolet explain the flexible, responsive, evolution of DevRel as value generator. And get an update on next DevRel meetup!
In this podcast conversation with Tim Nolet, CTO and co-founder of Checkly I get a really good guide to valuable DevRel activities and we end up dissecting the role of DevRel in the success of Checkly. And if investors understand DevRel or not.
During the week I spotted a question Karin Wolok posted on Twitter:
There were very many reasoned and sensible and justifiable responses. Engineering, product, sales, marketing, its own department….a mix of all of the above! And this mix came out in my conversation with Tim. Checkly’s investors wanted to see a structured marketing team which would scale the very DevRel work Tim was doing solo. Understandable.
But Tim himself uses Checkly’s DevRel Stefan Judis (working with Checkly’s CMO Cinthia Portugal) to validate and co-design products, features and test reactions from users and customers.
Taking this DevRel value to a logical conclusion as Checkly grows, I ask Tim if he’s going to move to a corner office to study spreadsheets!! Instead Tim is acting barman in Checkly at the request of their engineering manager Daniel.
This is the ideal conversation to walk you through the evolving, flexible, responsive nature of DevRel as a value creator in your software development company.
Tim is invited back in a few years to map the next part of the DevRel journey.
