Mastodon 4.2.0 and the Dublin DevRel Meetup
What do they have in common? It's all about developer experience.
So on Wednesday (September 27th) the Dublin DevRel meetup goes full on INTERACTIVE!! (Don’t ask me how, exactly, we’ll figure it out together…interactively!) This is another thematic special, with developer experience featuring heavily in both talks.
Anil Kumar Krishnashetty was first out of the traps offering an interactive session and his talk is going to be all about the developer experience. Anil is a Technical Product Marketer and a Frontend Dev Mentor at CareerFoundry. He is a community builder & prototyper with 13+ years of Frontend product development experience from companies including SAP & Sapient. He has been speaking and writing about developer experience, usability, and running and facilitating design & tech communities in Berlin.
Anil’s talk:
Enhance Developer Experience by community
The success of software development depends on the experience of the developers. However, improving the developer experience is often overlooked, with most of the attention focused on user experience. In this talk, Anil, a Technical Product Manager, will discuss the crucial difference between developer experience and user experience and why traditional UX design techniques may not always enhance the former. He will also share his experience of conducting pair programming sessions with community developers, which helped identify their pain points. The talk will include examples of both good and bad developer experiences. The session will be interactive, and attendees can expect to learn tips and tricks to improve the developer experience and conduct developer usability testing sessions with minimal effort. Join this talk to learn how to enhance your developer experience through the power of community.
Which brings us nicely to Mastodon’s release of Version 4.2.0 last week

Dev Rel in the era of Community Everywhere
It is a time of definitive change online, as the social platforms we’ve come to rely on change (or in some cases, breakdown entirely). Let’s talk about what might come next, and whether that affects our ability to do Dev Rel in the same ways as we have before.
Not to be outdone on the interactive bit, as soon as Mastodon version 4.2.0 dropped, Andy decided that on Wednesday “we’ll get a bit interactive looking into the latest updates to Mastodon, and how to use it effectively”.
Do NOT miss this opportunity to hear from Anil and Andy about how and why community is beneficial to developers, and where a lot of community hang out now.
