UXDX Conference, Blockchain DevRel & Community Values.
Rory Madden and Taariq Lewis are podcast guests, while Carla Gaggini and Omotola Omotayo deliver essential guides to Communities with benefits at the DevRel Meetup.
Another busy time at Voxgig as we continue to ramp up the number of podcasts we deliver each week. Why? Because we know the DevRel sector and specialty is going through a real identity crisis at the moment so our contribution to those thinking about the future of this impactful profession is to talk to and present the ideas and experiences of as many people within the industry as possible.
This week’s episodes capture the diversity of DevRel. Rory runs a conference. Taariq runs a Blockchain development consultancy. Yet they BOTH have a commitment to and understanding of the importance of developer experience to success of products or services.
UXDX Conference
Rory Madden runs the UXDX conference and is both wise and motivating about the powerful effectiveness companies can achieve when they allow cross functional teams to function! You need to listen to our chat if you are trying to convince anyone in your organisation of the rightness of real collaboration. Rory brings receipts. He challenges me on some of my assumptions and offers real world examples of how things can be done better.
Psst. Want to try out Blockchain?
Taariq brings Blockchain and its issues out in the open in this episode. I had so much fun talking to Taariq and he was an important help to me a long time ago. He is a truly decent guy and this informs his approach to DevRel at his software development company Volume. Open about the fact that developers can be reluctant to embrace Blockchain because of the potential for scam projects and work, Taariq and Volume’s community work with well funded projects. He understand the issue of “non-stop new” that developers can encounter in Blockchain, and so Volume’s stack of GoLang, RUST and Python-esque Viper have a familiar feel.
And we end the conversation sharing our history of start-ups and what we learned a long the way!
Dublin DevRel Meetup - August edition
At the end of August we were joined on the DevRel meetup by Omotola Omotayo and Carla Gaggini. Wow! It was our sixth. Our first all women slate of speakers. Our first with our new and valued sponsor Contentful. And it turned out to be our chattiest event! Our attendees are getting to know each other and the Vito platform keeps the conversation rolling over from one event to the next, so each month truly feels like a continuation. Check it out if you don’t believe me.
You can find Carla and Omotola’s talks on the previous page of the Dublin DevRel Meetup website, and you’ll also find the announcement of our September event! We’ll welcome Anil Kumar Krishnashetty & Andy Piper.
More interesting contributions to the DevRel identity debate next week!
